About

The Nonprofit Development Center was born out of community collaboration. During March 2021, the Blue Mountain Community Foundation, Sherwood Trust and the United Way of the Blue Mountains partnered to survey nonprofits in the Blue Mountain Region.  The survey results indicated a high percentage of area nonprofits need some form of capacity-building support.

COVID-19 amplified several challenges to small, rural nonprofits including:

  • increased demand for services

  • modified service delivery

  • loss of event/fundraising revenue

  • loss of volunteer labor

  • increased cost of supplies and sanitation

  • and decreased donations.

Thus, in order to sustain operations, nonprofits need staff and organizational capacity support through fundraising/development training, succession planning, long-term recovery planning, DEI training, legal/HR support and technology/internet assistance.

The Nonprofit Development Center (NDC) was created to help address these issues.

The NDC fills a community need by helping nonprofits with single projects through professional and confidential consulting.  We also provide trainings and educational opportunities to nonprofit leaders so they can expand their organizational capacity and increase their impact on their community.
